Where to look
Many refrigerator water filters are inside the fridge, near the lower grille, or behind a small cover.
Your owner’s manual is the best guide for your exact model.
How replacement usually works
Most filters twist out, pull straight out, or release with a button. Do not force it.
Why replacement matters
Water filters are consumable parts. Over time they can slow water flow and may stop reducing taste and odor as intended. Follow the schedule in your owner’s manual.
What to compare before buying
- Compare the part number printed on the cartridge or frame you are removing.
- Compare your appliance model number or housing/model sticker against what this page lists.
- When in doubt, check your owner’s manual before ordering.

Where to look for this model
Samsung support guidance varies by model — consult the user manual for internal filter housing location on French-door models with external water dispensers.
Replacement summary from source
Samsung support guidance for HAF-QIN filters: turn off water supply, rotate the old filter counterclockwise to unlock and remove, install the new filter clockwise until locked, then flush several gallons and reset the filter indicator.
Cautions from source
Samsung support recommends genuine Samsung water filters only and replacing approximately every six months or when the filter indicator prompts. Samsung documents separate HAF-QIN and HAF-CIN filter families for different refrigerator lines; a HAF-CIN (DA29-00020B) cartridge is a different family and may not fit where HAF-QIN is required — using the wrong family can risk damage to the filter housing or water path. Compare the marketing name and OEM number on your old filter before ordering.
